Horses at ronora

Interaction with our beautiful, friendly, rescue horses is often one of the most positive and memorable experiences of time spent at Ronora.

Ronora offers equine-assisted learning with EAGALA certified and trained specialists. This special ground work interaction with horses is available to groups and individuals by reservation for a fee.

Equine-assisted learning activities can be used with youth, alcohol & drug recovery programs, holistic health programs, coaching, and workplace training. Participants engage in an activity with the horses on the ground, and the trained facilitator guides the learning process. Rather than focusing on personal issues, the focus of equine-assisted learning is on concepts and principles, such as trust.

Equine-assisted learning activities may be offered as part of leadership and team training processes. Typically, clients participate in an activity on the ground with the horses and then examine the patterns that emerge from the responses of the horses in the interaction. How individuals approach the activity carries back to the workplace and daily life in new awareness of, and change in, productive behaviors.

Any stay at Ronora can be enhanced with an equine-assisted learning activity.  Activities designed by our equine-activity leaders, in consultation with you, can help you reach your personal goals or amplify the goals of your retreat.  All activities are on the ground.  Equine-assisted learning activities--or even just leading, grooming and painting the horses--can promote team building, mindfulness, strengthen bonds among group members, and provide a relaxing, fun, break.

Equine assisted learning activities are provided by Dr. Hunter Leggitt, PsyD, and Matthew Coleman, both trained in the theory and practice of The EAGALA Model.  Other leaders may include specialists in organizational development or teaching.

Though we know it would be wonderful, horseback riding is not offered at Ronora at this time.  Our rescue horses are friendly and approachable, but concern for their physical condition prohibits us from offering public riding.
