Ronora Lodge and Retreat Center is on the site of the old Watervliet Camp for Girls founded by Dr. Henry Tatter and his wife Velda Jordan Tatter. Like the old camp, Ronora Lodge and Retreat Center offers a chance to experience nature, learn new skills, meet new friends and grow up in the open air. In 1988 the property was purchased by three friends who have a love for the land. We have beautifully restored the historic buildings and have increased the number of acres preserving this beautiful natural setting. We garden organically to protect the food, the land and the water. All our effort goes to making Ronora Lodge and Retreat Center a place where you can still feel Mother Earth, sense her balance and find your own.

Other Activities -- Just north of Watervliet, Michigan - in the middle of orchard and vineyard country - Ronora Lodge is ideal for wildlife lovers and naturalists. Several area dunes parks and Lake Michigan beach parks are in the area. Canoe the Paw Paw River or launch your boat on Paw Paw Lake less than a mile from Ronora. Area fruit farms have pick-your-own peaches, berries, cherries, grapes, and more. Our neighbors sell their succulent specimens to St. Julian vintners.
We're also near the shops, galleries, harbors, and restaurants of South Haven and Saugatuck too - without the crowds or high prices. You can also find real bargains at nearby outlet stores. For cozy cooking in one of our cabins, pick up groceries at the local supermarket or check out the charming restaurants, diners, and pubs in Watervliet and Coloma.
Have fun exploring on your own, or tell us what you have in mind and we'll be happy to offer suggestions. There's even a double-feature drive-in theater nearby, or good old-fashioned stargazing, away from the city lights.
